UAntwerpen x Cern
Walking through the Voetgangerstunnel will never be the same
BRIEFING
The Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to a Belgian in 2013 for the Higgs Boson particle. One of the most important discoveries of the last years.
The University of Antwerp wanted to attract attention to this phenomenon to inspire young people and to highlight their scientific department.
WHAT WE HAVE DONE
Curious about what makes up the universe? Together with the University of Antwerp we created a simulation of CERN’s particle accelerator, the world’s largest particle physics lab, right here in the Sint-Anna Tunnel. Instead of traveling to Switzerland, you can explore the origins of the universe much closer to home. As you passed through the tunnel, you could channel your inner physicist and join scientists in their quest for cosmic answers. Information about the project was displayed on the escalators and intermediate levels on both sides of the river.
THE RESULT
Every day, many people use the Voetgangerstunnel to cross the river. During this project, 20,000 passersby have experienced the activation! A lot of articles about the event were published, there was an interview on the radio, and of course, the University of Antwerp proudly showcased this project as well.
What a blast!
