De Standaard organized this year’s De Schrijfwijzen, a large-scale dictation. 70 libraries invited hundreds of candidates to show their spelling bee skills. In the end, the 200 best canidates of the preliminary rounds in the libraries and the online rounds were invited to a dazzling final dictation. And this is where we stepped up our game.

Our job? To turn this exciting final into a spectacle. And what better place to do this than the Royal Library of Belgium in Brussels! Straightaway, the participants were completely immersed in the atmosphere of books, words and Het Groot Dictee Heruitgevonden. With special guest Sofie Lemaire, the day was filled with laughter and linguistics.
